Struggling with new affiliates signing up but not actively promoting your product? It’s more common than you think.
A very successful affiliate once shared with me that "You're the first company that reached out to actually talk with me and I respect that. Most companies with an affiliate program I've signed up for never reach out. That's why I promote you over the other tools."
Most companies are not collecting enough data from their affiliates on the WHY. Why did they sign up for the affiliate program? Why do they feel like they'll successfully sell it? Why do they think this product will help their community?
The only way to get answers to these questions is to get on the phone with these affiliates and ask these questions.
Some questions to think about:
Is your product top of mind for affiliates after signing up or do they forget about you?
Are affiliates being educated properly to promote your product?
Are affiliates being incentivized enough? Do they prefer one-time commissions or recurring commissions? Do they want a change in terms?
What's the profile of these new affiliates? Are you bringing in the right kind of affiliates? Do you know your IAF (Ideal Affiliate Profile)?
Do these affiliates know how to monetize their audience? Do they make any affiliate money from their content right now?
Do these affiliates have the resource to invest time, money, and energy to promote your product? How are you simplifying that for them?
Are these affiliates confident that they'll make money promoting your product? If not, clear that doubt for them.
